MEDIUM DENSITY FIBRE-BOARD
We use A-grade MDF (medium-density fibreboard) from local suppliers which are some of the best quality in the world and we are proud to be associated with a product that is sustainably manufactured while giving consistent and trusted quality to the South African market.
MDF is made by breaking down hard- or softwood into fibres, mixing it with wax and resin and forming this mix into panels by putting them through high heat and pressure and then cutting these into sheets. MDF is generally more dense than plywood and stronger and more dense than chipboard.
We upgrade our MDF with melamine, laminates and veneers and thus you have a very wide variety to choose from as upgrades to this popular substrate. It can even be painted in various different ways.
MDF is great as a building material in various applications and as it does not contain the knots and rings of natural wood, cutting and manufacturing is a lot easier and the hard, flat, grainless surface is makes it the ideal choice for veneering as well as high quality melamine boards.
MDF is ideally used indoors as it should be sheltered and protected from excessive moisture.
